Seam Patterns
Standard flat seams vs. body-contour seams — shaping, fit, and visual impact.
At a Glance
- ▸Two patterns: Standard (flat) and Body Contour (shaped)
- ▸Standard = fewer panels, more forgiving fit, lower cost
- ▸Body Contour = more panels, tighter fit, couture-level shaping
- ▸Recommended for first suit: Standard
Latex catsuits are assembled from flat panels of sheeting that are glued together along seam lines. The placement and style of these seams determines how the suit conforms to your body and the visual lines it creates.
Available Patterns
Standard — Classic Flat Seams
Standard seams follow simple, straight lines along the sides, inseams, and centre back. Panels are overlapped and glued flat, producing a clean, minimal seam profile.
- Construction: Straight-line panel layout, overlapped and glued flat
- Visibility: Barely visible, especially in dark colours
- Fit tolerance: More forgiving — works well for all body types
- Best for: First suits, minimalists, budget-conscious builds
Body Contour — Follows Body Lines
Body-contour seams use additional panels and curved seam lines that follow the natural contours of the torso, hips, and legs. The seams themselves become a design feature — visible lines that trace the anatomy. Because contour seams demand tighter tolerances, accurate body measurements are especially important.
- Construction: Curved, multi-panel layout following body geometry
- Visibility: Intentionally visible — a design element
- Fit tolerance: Tighter — demands precise measurements
- Best for: Maximum body shaping, couture-level fit, design-forward builds
⚠ Good to Know
Body-contour seams require very precise measurements. Small errors that a standard seam pattern would forgive become noticeable with contour seaming. See our measurement guide for tips.
Side-by-Side Comparison
| Pattern | Panels | Seam Visibility | Fit Precision | Price Impact |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Fewer, straight | Minimal | Forgiving | Base price |
| Body Contour | More, curved | Intentional | Tight | Higher |
Our Recommendation
★ First Suit?
Start with standard seams. Once you have your first suit and know your exact measurements, body-contour seams can take the fit to the next level on subsequent orders.
Seam pattern is one of the choices you can pair with your entry style and closure options. Try both patterns in the configurator to see how each looks on the mannequin.
